Double Masters 2022 is chock-full of quality reprints, so which ones are actually the most expensive Double Masters 2022 cards? And why do these cards fetch a high price?

(UPDATED July 9, 2022: We've updated the price now that the set has finally gone out. Reflected prices are now representative of release price of the cards on the secondary market)

Top 8 Most Expensive Double Masters 2022 Cards

We start with the top 8 most expensive Double Masters 2022 cards by value – with no regard to the borders of the card. Hence, we're including in this first list all cards of all border types – with borderless cards of course fetching a higher price compared to other cards. However, we're not listing cards' values in their etched foil price as that market is still very fluid, and thus not all cards' foil etched versions have prices yet.

1. Imperial Seal (Borderless) – $206.87

Imperial Seal is not just reprinted in this set – it also comes with new borderless artwork. The extremely powerful card allows you to fetch any card and put it on top of your library just for the cost of 2 life and one black mana. TCGPlayer lists the card's median price at $586.49 as of the time of pre-release weekend, which is hella expensive. Still, it's half the price of the original printing of the card back in Portal: Three Kingdoms, which runs a price of over $1,750. Any other printing of the card costs about $650, so this sweet reprint has value written all over it.

Now that Launch Parties are ongoing and more boxes have been opened, the borderless Imperial Seal's price has fallen down to $206.87, but it's still the most expensive card in the whole set.

2. Imperial Seal – $130

Imperial Seal is so valuable that even if it's not in its Borderless alternate art form, it's still the most expensive card in the set, even beating the borderless versions of other valuable reprints below. This, slightly more affordable, version of the card runs at just above $300 a week before release, but now after the Launch Parties are done it has gone down to just above $130.

2. Cavern of Souls (Borderless) – $79.99

Cavern of Souls wasn't here in this list in any form when we made this just a week ago, but this very important card shot up when boxes opened because people realized just how important this card is. There are a lot of themed decks that use this card and most especially in Commander, so much so that you'd be crazy not to include this card in your deck.

3. Wrenn and Six (Borderless) – $78.32

Modern Horizons' darling card is back once again, coming out of The List with a Borderless art card in Double Masters 2022. This version of the card runs for $78.32, but also keep an eye on the foil-etched version of the card that already fetches more than that rate. This insane card adds a ton of value to any deck that runs red and green, and this reprint just reminds everyone how powerful Wrenn and Six is, as its value still won't fall below ridiculous prices in spite of this reprint.

4. Mana Vault (Borderless) – $75.37

Mana Vault is a staple that received multiple reprints over the past ten years, but its value is still high above the standard rate cards usually go by. This borderless version of the card runs for just above a hundred dollars, cheaper than its box topper version from Ultimate Masters or the Kaladesh Inventions version of the card. It's double the price of the Fifth Edition print, but its non-borderless version actually runs at a slightly lower price than that at $57.25. Hence, Double Masters 2022 actually brings Mana Vault within reach, making this a very valuable reprint for this expansion.

5. Wrenn and Six – $69.99

The normal printing of Wrenn and Six just wiggles its way to the Top 5 of this list. Wrenn and Six is just powerful that way.

6. Dockside Extortionist (Borderless) – $64.83

Dockside Extortionist's first-ever reprint is highly-sought after. Red decks love this card so much thanks to the additional mana that this card creates that performs really well on EDH as well as against opponents that are already way ahead of you by the time you put this goblin pirate to play. Its power and toughness aren't that high, but the true value of Dockside Extortionist comes from its ability to produce treasures out of nowhere.

7. Kozilek, Butcher of Truth (Borderless) – $64.83

Eldrazis are back, and leading the pack is Kozilek, Butcher of Truth. This version of the guard makes the already frightening monster look even more menacing, and its price gives a good reflection of how terrifying to face this card is. Kozilek, Butcher of Truth comes at $64.83 in median price for its borderless version, while its regular Double Masters printing only comes for $41.99.

8. Force of Negation (Borderless) – $58.04

One of the most powerful counterspells in existence makes its way into our list as the final entry. Force of Negation lets you counter spells even if you don't have any mana open, which makes mind games much more exciting in your round table of Commander Magic. There are not that many cards in Magic that can do what this card does, making it highly valuable.

Top 8 Most Expensive Double Masters 2022 Reprints

Since Borderless cards are obviously more expensive compared to their regular border cousins, we also list below all of the most expensive cards in their normal borders.

1. Imperial Seal – $130

Imperial Seal is just too powerful for anyone to give it away at any price lower than its asking price. Imperial Seal is the definitive most expensive card in this set by a long shot.

2. Wrenn and Six – $69.99

The normal printing of Wrenn and Six just wiggles its way to the Top 2 of this list.

3. Mana Vault – $57.25

Mana Vault is indeed a very valuable card, making it earn its place in both our lists. In fact, the non-borderless version of this card increased in value after Launch Party Weekends, unlike everything else on this list.

4. Cavern of Souls – $55.99

Mana fixing is very important, and Cavern of Souls is a must in tribal and zoo decks, which makes it a quality card for many decks. While Cavern of Souls isn't the most exciting card to get in draft or to pop in a booster pack, it's still a valuable card that could find its place in many decks and collections. This card also has a borderless print in this set.

5. Dockside Extortionist – $49.70

Dockside Extortionist also gets its first reprint, with a brand-new artwork. The Goblin Pirate may have a small butt, but for two casting cost and the ability to produce many, many treasures, this card is a great value engine that can easily be included in recursion for unlimited mana.

6. Kozilek, Butcher of Truth – $41.99

Kozilek makes another appearance on our list, and for no wonder. It's actually more surprising that Emrakul, the definite strongest among the three Eldrazis, isn't making the headlines, but it's never a surprise that one of the three is on the list. Hence, all you can do is bow down against this spell if ever it ends up being put into play, because unless you're able to counter it or remove it as it goes into play, you're smoke.

7. Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre – $41.94

A massive monster with removal and is almost always stuck to the board once cast? Ulamog is the bane of the existence of many decks that aren't that planned well. One of the three Eldrazis, it's not surprising to find Ulamog here.

8. Force of Negation – $41

Force of Negation rounds up our list, which is not at all surprising. This very powerful counterspell allows you to turn down threats even when you're all tapped out.

Some other important reprints from this set that just didn't make the list include Phyrexian Altar, Allosaurus Shepherd, Sensei's Divining Top, Seasoned Pyromancer, Liliana, the Last Hope, Concordant Crossroads, and Food Chain. As already mentioned earlier, Double Masters 2×2 has a lot of valuable reprints, so it's worth checking binders after the release of this set. Take part in sealed events for a more exciting way to open packs, or just open booster boxes for fun. However you find your new cards, there are a ton of spells for you to enjoy in Double Masters 2022. Double Masters 2022 launches on July 8, 2022, with its pre-release weekend happening from July 1 to 3.
