Trades are very fun for the fan base, but they are not fun for the athletes themselves. They have to be uprooted and move mid season. For young players being involved in trade rumors can hinder the mental aspect of their game. Just ask Boston Celtics rising star Jayson Tatum.

For players like Celtics' second-year forward Tatum, being a part of rumors is quite simply just business. There is no need to worry or get angry, as the team is just doing what they need to do to win, per A. Sherrod Blakely of NBC Sports.

“And my response is always the same; control what I can control, I don’t take it personal. I understood coming in that it is a business. They have to make the best decision for them, whatever that may be. Especially right now; I can’t control it.” Tatum said.

Tatum was involved in the Anthony Davis trade talks. This, of course, was the first time Tatum's name has been thrown into trade rumors. This was his first experience playing under the uncertainty of if he would be wearing green the next day.

Star players can have some control over what happens to them. However, those players have earned that through their play on the court and contracts they've signed. Tatum does not have that kind of power yet.

“You learn pretty quickly that when you are under contract, you don’t have too much say-so,” Tatum said.

Even so, Tatum enjoys being a member of the Celtics. It might be a business, but he want's to be a part of the first place team that drafted him. At 20 years old, this is a lot to deal with. Thus far, he has handled it like a true pro.
