Former New York Knicks player Charles Oakley has recently joined the discussion on where he thinks Carmelo Anthony will fit best should he ultimately agree to be dealt this summer. One of the teams that has emerged as a potential landing spot for the 10-time All-Star forward is the Los Angeles Lakers. But according to Oakley, the team is not the ideal spot for him.

The 53-year-old said, via a video posted by TMZ, that Anthony should opt to be moved to a team that has a big chance of making the playoffs next year for him to be successful. Oakley admitted to not knowing the direction the Knicks are headed to, and understands that they have a lot of big decisions to make this summer.

“No, Carmelo can't help the Lakers.”

“He should go to a team that has a chance to get to the playoffs and be successful next year.”

Anthony has long been the subject of trade rumors since last season, but he has full control of his situation as he owns a no-trade clause in his contract. However, with the ongoing feud he's having with team president Phil Jackson and after another disappointing season, it won't come as a surprise if he agrees to play elsewhere in the next campaign.

Now at 32-years-old, the Syracuse product is reaching the point in his career where he needs to take into consideration where he'll have the best opportunity to win a title. Unlike most of his contemporaries, he is one of the few who does not have a ring yet, and he definitely wants to win one before he calls it a career.
