Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo has raised some pretty valid concerns pertaining to contact between players once the current season resumes.

Speaking to The Associated Press recently, the 22-year-old opened up about his concerns with regards to contracting sweat and saliva from other players during play:

“Some players like Steve Nash used to lick his hands. Some people still have that in their routine,” Adebayo said. “Some people wipe the sweat off their face and put it on the ball. It’s going to be weird how they try to control it, because we have to touch each other. And then you have to worry about the family members that we may be touching.”

This is an excellent point from Bam Adebayo here. You cannot expect the players to practice any form of social distancing during games, so if any player is a carrier of the coronavirus then odds are he will be able to pass it to some, if not most of the other players he comes in contact with — be it his teammates or the opposition.

This is perhaps where the bubble idea comes to play. In this proposed scenario, all players and staff will be tested prior to entering the “bubble” — a neutral, singular location where all games will be held. The idea here is that all the players and team staff that are within the vicinity do not have the virus, and so long as everyone remains within the bubble, then it would be safe to assume that the location is coronavirus-free.

Then again, a lot of other factors still come into play when it comes to possible ways in which the virus might be able to enter the bubble. In this respect, Adebayo's concerns are indeed very real.
