Dwayne Wade says he will return to the Miami Heat for “One last dance.”

15 years after being drafted as part of arguably one of the best draft classes in the NBA, the fifth overall pick in 2003 will end his career with another year in Florida. With three championship rings he brought to the city and arguably the best player to put on a Heat jersey, Wade’s final tour of duty would be with the same team that drafted him.

The Hall-of-Fame bound superstar, who will be accepting the $2.4 million veteran’s minimum, will still be a reliable contributor to the team according to Heat President Pat Riley.

via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald:

“But I still see a player who can contribute heavily if he really wants to. If he plays, he’s going to want to do that. We don’t want him back as a placemat holder or somebody who’s going to be a veteran in the locker room. Dwyane is a great player, a great talent. He’s not the same guy he was in 2006, but he can be a very good player for us and can make a big difference for us. We want him back as a guy that realizes if this is going to be his last year or whatever, we want this to be his best year ever.”

Wade, who leads many all-time statistical categories for the Heat, will surely have a hero’s farewell in his last playing year. Opposing team's fans will surely not want to miss Miami’s visit to their homes this year, giving the Flash, the Heat Legend, and the Olympian the respect for his contribution to the world of basketball.
