At the moment, there is no guarantee if Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade has another season in him. Perhaps an elite milestone — entering the top 35 all-time scoring list of the league, and overtaking the great Clyde Drexler in the process — could serve as extra motivation for the 36-year-old to suit up for at least one more year.

According to Ben Rohrbach of Yahoo! Sports, Drexler's record of 22,195 career points is within reach for Wade, who himself is already at the 22,082-mark. The three-time NBA champion now just needs 113 points to become the 35th overall in the NBA's all-time top scorers list.

Should Wade decide to play for another season, then he can easily reach this mark within the first few weeks of the new campaign. Last season, between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Heat, Wade tallied 765 total points in the lowest scoring year of his entire career. He averaged 12.0 points per contest with the Heat last season, and if he is able to at least match this output this term, then he could overtake Drexler in less than 10 games.

However, no. 35 is likely as high as Wade can get in the all-time scoring list. Sitting at the 34th spot is Los Angeles Lakers great Elgin Baylor who has 23,149 points to his name. Wade is still 1,067 points shy of that mark, so unless we see a resurgence of the Wade of old, then he will need to settle for 35th. That still absolutely makes Wade one of the greatest of all time, and a shoo-in as a future Hall of Famer.
