Almost everyone expected the Golden State Warriors to make the playoffs this year, thanks to Stephen Curry’s MVP-caliber season. The thing is, no one expected Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies to send them packing home after their Play-In Tournament matchup last week. And now, Ja Morant cards are gaining significant traction.

Morant, in particular, has been the most important piece for this Grizzlies team to make the playoffs. We take a look below at how this young stud’s recent performances against the Warriors and the Utah Jazz in the playoffs have affected his value in the card market.

Morant’s Playoff Debut

Morant’s matchup against Curry in the final game of the Play-In Tournament caught the attention of avid card fans. In that contest, the Grizzlies’ franchise player went off by posting 35 points, six rebounds, six assists, and six steals in 45 minutes, He also shot 48% from the field and 50% from downtown to take Memphis back to the playoffs.

In comparison, Curry went off in that game by draining 39 points on 46% shooting from two and 40% from beyond the arc. He also committed seven turnovers and five personal fouls, as compared to Morant’s five TOs and two fouls. While the two-time MVP had more points, Memphis’s young stud was more efficient and boasted a better overall game in that contest, leading him to overcome the veteran.

The momentum Morant built in the Play-In Tournament carried over to their first game against the top-seeded Utah Jazz. In 35 minutes, the Grizzlies’ starting point guard notched 26 points on 54% shooting from the field. He also took over the final stretch of the game by scoring 10 points to seal a 112-109 win over the Jazz, who were playing without Donovan Mitchell.

Now that Memphis has taken an early lead, they can potentially gain homecourt advantage as the series progresses. It still remains to be seen how Utah will perform with Mitchell in the lineup. One thing’s for sure, though. With Morant’s fiery personality leading the Grizzlies, their matchup against the Jazz is one that will generate a lot of buzz for the young guard in the coming days.

How Are Ja Morant Rookie Cards Performing In The Market

Morant’s improvement as a sophomore in the NBA is currently on full display in the postseason. The guard’s stock is now reflecting that progress in the card market. His PSA 10 base Prizm, which was valued at $240 a few days ago, is now at $300.

Another popular Ja Morant rookie card, his base 2019 Select Concourse Level, is also joining in on the action. Last week, PSA 10 copies of this card sold for $102.5, a meager price for a gem-mint slab of Morant. That same card encased in a PSA slab is now worth $200 on eBay.

It’s inevitable for the Jazz to come out on top of Memphis in their first-round matchup, as most fans and critics expect. Although this is the case, that won’t stop Morant from playing well in the postseason. Better keep a close eye on him in the coming days so you can plan your Ja Morant rookie card investments accordingly.
