Former NBA veteran Jeremy Lin gave a shoutout on Twitter to UCLA Bruins star Johnny Juzang after leading his team to a solid run in the NCAA tournament. Lin thanked his fellow Asian-American in Juzang for proudly representing the roots that they share in the highest stage of competition in the collegiate ranks.

After a four-year stint with the Harvard Crimson, Lin went undrafted in the 2010 NBA Draft. Despite flying under the radar, the Taiwanese-American still became an international sensation as he exploded for a string of games with the New York Knicks that ultimately gave birth to the ‘Linsanity' phenomenon back in 2012.

On the other hand, Juzang was a four-star recruit who initially played for the Kentucky Wildcats in the 2019-20 season. After failing to see significant action under coach John Calipari, the 20-year-old swingman eventually transferred and took his talents to UCLA.

Juzang bannered the Bruins squad which amassed a 22-10 record during the regular season. They eventually marched to the NCAA tournament with the 11th seed where they toppled notable opponents including the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Michigan Wolverines.

The Bruins successfully exceeded expectations as they reached the Final Four where they collided with the top-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs. They managed to threaten their opponents until the final moments where Jalen Suggs launched a long heave from beyond the arc to win the game, 93-90.

Juzang led his team with 29 points, six rebounds, and two assists against the Bulldogs. After his impressive debut campaign with the Bulldogs, he is looking to be the first Asian-American to be selected as a potential lottery pick if he decides to declare for the upcoming 2021 NBA Draft.

The impressive performance by Johnny Juzang certainly puts the Asian region back on the basketball map once more. Hopefully, it can also open up more opportunities for Asian hoopers to be able to showcase their abilities in the NBA in the years to come.
