Kevin Durant is the most attractive free agent this summer. His first and best option at this point seems to be for him to stay in Oklahoma City with the Thunder, but that doesn't ensure that he'll remain there.

Yesterday, the New York Knicks acquired Derrick Rose from the Chicago Bulls making their team a more attractive destination for someone like Kevin Durant.

According to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News, Phil Jackson has the intent to go after Kevin Durant and try to recruit him to New York.

But Phil Jackson believes that by acquiring the former MVP point guard for one starter, a rookie and a veteran with an expiring contract the Knicks enhanced their bid to land the biggest free agent on the market, Kevin Durant.

According to a source, Jackson told Rose of his plan to pursue Durant starting on July 1st.

It's a strategy that we could've predicted. Every team will have reason to go after Kevin Durant. He's one of the best players in the league after all. But, going after someone to try to recruit them and actually having the pieces to entice that player are two different things.

Phil Jackson is planning to use the acquisition of Derrick Rose to get Kevin Durant in this free agency, but that may not work. There are still much more attractive teams, such as the Warriors, Spurs, and Thunder, who have shown interest.

We'll see if there is any traction between the two sides if they do meet, but at this point it doesn't look like the Knicks have enough to bring Kevin Durant to New York. The good thing for Knicks fans, though, is that they are at least showing significant interest in KD.
