Veteran small forward Marcus Morris reportedly prefers staying with the New York Knicks over going to a contender, according to Stefan Bondy of The New York Daily News.

Morris becomes an unrestricted free agent after this season ends and believes he can secure a long-term deal with the Knicks once the free agency period starts on June 30.

However, there are other factors at play. Marcus Morris has been both publicly and privately adamant about his desire to stay with the Knicks. It’s a preference rooted in comfort and business. According to sources, the 30-year-old enjoys living within a short distance of family in Philadelphia and believes he’ll secure a lucrative multi-year contract in the summer with the Knicks.

Multiple sources have reiterated Morris has told people he prefers staying with the Knicks over going to a contender.

Morris signed a one-year, $15 million deal with the Knicks this past offseason. He originally agreed to sign with the San Antonio Spurs, but backed out of his deal. Morris also parted ways with his agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports.

In 41 games this season for the Knicks, Morris is averaging 19.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists. He’s shooting 43.8 percent from the field, 43.9 percent from beyond the arc and 81.5 percent from the free-throw line.
