Carmelo Anthony would be open to joining the New York Knicks once again to bring his career to a close, according to SNY's Ian Begley.

The former prince of the Mecca of basketball had stints with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets in the Western Conference in the last two years since being traded by the Knicks. They were two underwhelming years, considering he was one of only four players in NBA history to have scored 20 points per game or more throughout his whole career (Kevin Durant, Michael Jordan, LeBron James) before being traded to OKC in 2017.

The Los Angeles Lakers are still the favorite to warrant his services, as draftmate and longtime friend LeBron James made a push to get him into purple and gold last season, a request that fell on deaf ears.

“Again, that may be irrelevant because of the Lakers' interest. But Anthony would have interest in signing with the Knicks and finishing his career in New York, despite how his Knicks tenure ended,” wrote Begley. “It's worth noting that Anthony handled the spotlight of New York incredibly well during the team's success and failures while he was here.”

Anthony has been seen working on his 3-point shooting as his game continues to live outside the arc after he spent a good chunk of his career as a mid-range maven.

Should the Knicks' hunt for a star player return empty, the franchise could always use an attraction, especially one that has been known to be an influence for young players in the league, as he was to a young Kristaps Porzingis in the past.
