Several NBA executives believe that Carmelo Anthony will join his good friend LeBron James with the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to Ian Begley of SNY, several executives who are monitoring the situation of Anthony is quite convinced that Los Angeles is the most likely destination for the 10-time All-Star. Anthony was also linked to the Lakers late last season, but a deal did not come to fruition.

The Lakers have placed themselves in strong contention to sign key free agents this summer. Aside from the fact they have significant cap space, players who want to win a title might find the Purple and Gold as an attractive destination.

Los Angeles had a disastrous year last season despite having LeBron in the fold. However, the Lakers are now considered as heavy title favorites after acquiring Anthony Davis in a blockbuster trade with the New Orleans Pelicans. In the deal, the Lakers managed to keep promising forward Kyle Kuzma.

Aside from the Lakers, the New York Knicks are also mentioned as a possible destination for Anthony. However, the Knickerbockers might not consider bringing him back if they fail to sign their free-agent targets this offseason — Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant — unless they want him to mentor young guys like RJ Barrett and Kevin Knox.
