The New York Knicks announced the hiring of William “World Wide Wes” Wesley as their Executive Vice President and Senior Advisor to new president Leon Rose.

Wesley worked with Rose back at Creative Arts Agency (CAA), and had Tom Thibodeau, the Knicks' top coaching candidate target, as one of his clients, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.

This was a somewhat expected move after Wesley was believed to heavily influence the move to hire Rose after the Knicks fired former president Steve Mills, though were were prior reports suggesting Wesley wouldn't get hired.

However, Rose wound up deciding to bring Wesley aboard after all:

“We are very excited to announce the hiring of William Wesley, someone that I have known for over 40 years and consider to be family,” Rose said in the statement. “He is one of the most well-connected and respected people in the basketball community and he will be a tremendous asset and resource to both myself and the New York Knicks.”

Wesley returned the favor with some praise of his own:

“My long history with and respect for Jim Dolan and Leon Rose, as well as the chance to be part of the New York Knicks made this an opportunity I wanted to pursue,” said Wesley. “I look forward to joining the current staff and moving the organization toward a successful future.”

This has long been considered Thibodeau's job to lose. While the Knicks have plans to interview a whole horde of candidates, all the stars are lining up for the former Coach of the Year to make The Big Apple his new home.
