After much speculation throughout the offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers officially pulled the trigger and selected Bronny James with the 55th overall pick of the NBA Draft. He'll be joining his father, LeBron James, in LA, assuming LeBron re-signs with the organization this offseason.

This is a big move for the Lakers considering it allows LeBron to play alongside his son. They become the very first father-son duo in league history. Although Bronny James needs time to develop, we could see him and his father play alongside each other at some point next season.

It's a bold move for the LA brass. However, this is a franchise that has routinely done right for their superstar players. Overall, this very well could be a move to make LeBron James happy enough to re-sign with the organization. However, many believe Bronny James has the tools necessary to be a solid guard in the NBA. But it's likely going to take some time for him to adjust to the professional level.

Bronny played just one season for the USC Trojans. He didn't play all that much after suffering a cardiac arrest in the preseason. However, he got healthy and fought his way back into the lineup, and served as a decent role player off the bench. In his loan season with USC, Bronny James averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game through 25 games played.

We'll see how his professional career plays out. He has the potential to become a solid three and D guard on the perimeter. Especially considering his arm length is ideal for defense. That very well could be Bronny's calling card in the NBA. Additionally, the Lakers could use some help defensively.

With that said expectations for Bronny James should be low for right now. It might be a year or two before we actually see him playing consistent time in the league. But as long as he develops his game then we should be seeing Bronny making plays at the professional level for years to come. But it's up to him on how his career pans out.
