With the release dates of the MTG Assassin's Creed and Bloomburrow sets rapidly approaching, so is the Duskmourn set. Duskmourn is the last set known to come out this year. As of this writing, we're not entirely sure what Wizards of the Coast has in store for the fourth quarter of 2024.

While players are highly anticipating the iconic characters from the Assasin's Creed video game franchise, many horror fans are curious to know when Duskmourn will come out. Here's everything fans need to know.

MTG Duskmourn Release Date – September 27, 2024

MTG Duskmourn: House of Horror is set to release on September 27, 2024, in local game stores. Not much is known yet regarding the set's price but players can pre-order them come June 28, 2024.

Given that Duskmourn isn't a Universes Beyond collaboration nor a set as big as Modern Horizons 3, we're assuming it'll have similar prices to Bloomburrow's. With that said, it's possible that each product would cost the following:

  • Play Booster Box – $190
  • Collector Booster Box – $280
  • Commander Decks (All Four) – $220
  • Bundle – $70

Readers should take this information with a grain of salt. These are only predictions. We'll have to wait for Wizards of the Coast to confirm the prices in the coming months.

Card Spoilers

While we are still several months away from the release of MTG Duskmounr: House of Horror, some cards have already been revealed. Two new cards are coming our way including an enchantment creature that introduces a new game mechanic.

Enduring TenacityMTG Duskmourn

Enduring Tenacity is a new card coming to MTG Duskmourn. It's a four-cost (two generic and two black) enchantment creature that allows controllers to make a target opponent lose life whenever they gain life. It initially enters as a creature. Once it dies, controllers return it to the battlefield this time as an enchantment.

Enduring Tenacity is basically Sanguine Bond but arguably better. Sanguine Bond is a five-cost (three generic and two black) enchantment spell that has the same ability as Enduring Tenacity's first ability. However, Sanguine Bond is limited to just that. Unlike this upcoming enchantment creature, it costs one less to cast and has an extra ability that allows it to return to the battlefield if it dies.

Many Sanguine Bond users will surely pursue pulling for Enduring Tenacity if not buying it as a single card. On the plus side, players don't have to remove Sanguine Bond from their decks. Having both cards in a deck will only give controllers a major boost as they can both trigger simultaneously given their on the battlefield at the same time. They won't gain double the life, however, they can make a target opponent lose twice as much. Otherwise, they also have the option to spread the love and target two opponents instead.

Overlord of the Hauntwoods

As mentioned earlier, there's an enchantment creature spell coming to MTG Duskmourn that introduces a new mechanic. Overlord of the Hauntwoods is a five-cost (three generic and two green) enchantment creature that has an ETB and attack trigger which creates a tapped colorless land token named Everywhere that is every basic land type. It also has Impending 4 with a cost of one generic and two green.

As of this writing, we aren't entirely sure what Impeding does yet. However, we do have some predictions on what it could be. Impending 4 could mean that for one generic and two green, controllers can cast Overlord of the Hauntwoods and put four counters on it. These four counters could force the enchantment creature to attack every combat phase and then remove a counter from it. Once all counters are gone, Overlord of the Hauntwoods could be exiled or sent to the graveyard.

Readers should take this with a grain of salt though. We'll need to wait for Wizards of the Coast to reveal what the ability does.

Nevertheless, it's a strong card to have in a deck that runs ETB, attack, and Landfall triggers. For instance, if players are running commander decks with Yarok, the Desecrated in it, they could easily maximize the abilities of the enchantment creature. With Yarok out, Overlord will trigger twice when it enters the battlefield. Triggering twice will create two tapped colorless land tokens. With two lands entering, each card with Landfall triggers on the battlefield will trigger four times.

Given that Overlord is a 6/5 creature, its probability of survival is high. That means controllers can recklessly swing the enchantment creature every combat phase to consistently generate land tokens which will keep on triggering all Landfall abilities.
