After another breakout year with the Boston Celtics last season, Jayson Tatum is primed to emerge as one of the very top forwards in the NBA in the coming season — if he isn't already. Some huge expectations are riding on the 22-year-old's broad shoulders, but for his part, Tatum appears to be more than willing to take on the challenge ahead.

The All-Star forward spoke about the type of leadership he hopes to bring to the table for the Cs next season:

“I’m kind of a lead by example guy,” Tatum said, via Danny Manning of the Celtics Blog. “But I’ll be vocal when I need to be.”

Last season, Tatum averaged across the board career-high marks of 23.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.4 steals. He also knocked down 2.9 triples per game on a highly-efficient 40.3-percent clip, as he led Boston all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Despite his astronomic rise to fame, Tatum is adamant that he still needs to get better:

“I’m still extremely young, so I think every part of my game can get better,” he said. “Continue to get stronger, extending my range, being able to efficiently shoot deeper either off the dribble or off the catch. Finishing better through contact and becoming even more of a defensive presence.”

The good news for Celtics fans here is that not only is Tatum well aware of his specific areas for improvement, but more importantly, he is not resting on his laurels. With Tatum at the helm, the Celtics have a bright, bright future ahead.
