Kemba Walker revealed that Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown were two of the main reasons why he opted to join the Boston Celtics this summer. Walker revealed that he wanted to be with high character players, and both young players fit the billing.

Walker heaped praises for Tatum, saying that the 21-year-old is so mature for his age. He revealed that he was with Tatum in Paris, where the former Duke University standout made a pitch on him. He revealed that Tatum did not directly tell him to come to Boston.

“He did not say come here at all,” Walker said during an interview. “It was more so of, about the city, about the fans, the atmosphere, coach Stevens, and some of the players of the team. Last season, how things went.”

The three-time NBA All-Star also revealed that he spent time with Brown two years ago in Africa. During their time together, he witnessed how down to earth Brown is. Walker also said that Brown is a good kid and someone that he wants to be around in a team.

Walker signed a five-year deal worth $141 million with the Celtics. The 29-year-old guard is coming off the best season of his career, where he averaged a career-high 25.6 points on top of 5.9 assists and 4.4 rebounds in 82 games for the Charlotte Hornets.
