Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum had an incredible night as he erupted against the Minnesota Timberwolves last Friday. Tatum dropped a career-high 53 points on the Timberwolves with former Celtic and current ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins taking a slice of the credit.
This led fans to commence the roasting on social media.

Perhaps, Perkins was thinking his “effect” on the Celtics star is similar to how NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal “fired up” Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell with his remark. The similarities are there – former NBA big men with long playing careers, now working as analysts, giving criticisms to young stars with these stars having impressive performances.
Tatum was unstoppable in his milestone game. While the 53 points are impressive, he managed to do so with 64% shooting from the field, 60% from long range and sunk 15 out of his 16 free throws. He added 10 rebounds and four assists.
For a team with so much talent, the Celtics' season so far could have gone much better. The team sits at the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference with a 27-26 record. There is still more than enough time for Boston to climb the standings and secure a more favorable, postseason matchup.
If the new acquisition Evan Fournier can stay healthy, he would provide much-needed, additional scoring from the wings. This will alleviate some of the pressure on the duo of Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The Celtics have a solid roster with the center position, as the biggest question mark, although Robert Williams has been receiving increased playing time lately.
