Heading into this season, the Detroit Pistons had a lot reason to be excited about their future. They were successful in bringing in some key pieces to their roster, which made their fans feel optimistic about their chances of making it to the playoffs this year. The completion of their new home court, Little Caesars Arena, was also on time, which adds more reason for them to watch their home games.
However, despite spending $864 million to bring basketball to downtown Detroit, the Motor City faithful have not shown a lot of support for the Pistons during home games. They are currently ranked 26th in crowd attendance, according to ESPN, but photos from their game on Wednesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves show that they may even go lower than that this year.

Despite having players like Andre Drummond, Avery Bradley, Tobias Harris, and Reggie Jackson, who can all be considered as decent crowd drawers in their own respect, the team still fail to bring more people to the arena. It’s also concerning that despite the Timberwolves, an up and coming team in the league consisting of a good mix of veterans and young guns, being in town, fans still failed to flock the arena to support their home team Pistons.

The team can always come up with new marketing strategies and promotions, which could be more appealing to their fans. Lowering the prices of tickets may not necessarily be to their full advantage, but that’s where their creative team comes in to find a way to bring their supporters to the arena. It’s still not a lost cause for them, especially since we're still in the early days of the regular season, but seeing more empty seats than occupied ones during games is definitely something their ownership team should alarmed about.
All in all, one thing has been very proven to bring back fan interest and that is by way of winning games.
