When the Brooklyn Nets made the bold move to acquire James Harden from the Houston Rockets, they lost a big piece in the process in Jarrett Allen. While the team tried hard to keep the young big man, it's just impossible to trade for a superstar without giving up a key piece.

However, had the Nets been able to keep him in the Harden blockbuster, Allen believes he would have made a difference for the team during the playoffs.

In his latest appearance on SiriusXM NBA Radio, Allen revealed his belief that he could have helped the Nets beat the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals and eventually reach the NBA Finals.

“I feel like I could've helped them. I'm not saying I would have been the No. 1 piece, but I feel like I could have had a hand in helping [the Nets] get to the Finals. It crossed my mind a couple of times, I'm not gonna lie to you,” Allen shared.

For what it's worth, it's true that Jarrett Allen could have been a big factor for the Nets in the playoffs. With the team suffering injuries to James Harden and Kyrie Irving in different periods, the presence of the reliable youngster could have been huge.

Not to mention that head coach Steve Nash didn't use DeAndre Jordan at all during the postseason, mainly relying on Blake Griffin and Nicolas Claxton to anchor the frontcourt. However, imagine if it's Allen at center and he had Claxton backing him up while Griffin moved to the 4-spot.

In his 12 games for the Nets before being traded, Allen was a double-double machine putting up 11.2 points and 10.4 rebounds. He was also averaging 1.6 blocks at the time, which could have been really useful for Brooklyn.

Then again, there's no use thinking about the “What ifs.” Allen, for his part, is certainly happy with the Cleveland Cavaliers after signing a five-year, $100 million extension. Now, the Cavs are surely hoping he can also help them return to playoff contention and eventually, to the big stage.
