The Chicago Bears may be without David Montgomery for their Week 10 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings after he was placed in concussion protocol following a loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Montgomery got hurt in the fourth quarter of an ugly 24-17 defeat. The Bears scored two garbage-time touchdowns to make the loss closer than it really was.

Montgomery led the team in rushing during the defeat, though he only totaled 30 yards as the Bears' offense struggled in Tennessee. Overall this season, Montgomery has 472 rushing yards and one touchdown. While it hasn't been an amazing year for the second-year running back, Montgomery missing time would set Chicago back even further. The Bears already lost Tarik Cohen for the season, so a Montgomery injury could mean more time for Cordarrelle Patterson and Ryan Nall. Lamar Miller could also get a chance after joining the practice squad last month.

The Bears started out as one of the big surprises in the league with their 5-1 start. However, they've now lost three games in a row to drop to 5-4. The offense has been a dumpster fire even after replacing the struggling Mitchell Trubisky with Nick Foles. The offensive line has been a huge problem, which in turn has resulted in a terrible rushing attack and inconsistent passing game. Head coach Matt Nagy has come under fire for these struggles.

If the Bears hope to maintain a playoff spot in this year's expanded version, the offense needs to start playing better and build up some momentum to help pick up a strong defense. That would get even harder without David Montgomery lining up in the backfield.
