It's hard to imagine Washington Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin in any other jersey. After all, he's arguably the best player to ever suit up for the franchise and a huge reason they won their first Stanley Cup in 2018.

Ovechkin's 13-year, $124 million deal expires this summer, which has left many wondering if the Russian sniper will explore opportunities elsewhere, or stay put. Alexander Ovechkin put any conversations of signing with another team to bed on Tuesday.

“We have time,” Ovechkin said, via TSN. “I want to finish my career here.”

Ovi also made it clear that he's been in contact with owner Ted Leonsis, who was also a key piece in his last deal. When you even think of the Capitals, Alexander Ovechkin is always the first name who comes to mind. He's one of the most lethal goal-scorers of this generation, winning the Maurice Rocket Richard trophy a total of nine times.

Ovechkin notched 24 goals and 18 assists this season in just 45 games. Unfortunately, though, the Caps were knocked out by the Boston Bruins in the first round of the playoffs, losing 4-1 in the series. Ovi collected four points.

Now, Alexander Ovechkin will look ahead to the next few months, where he firmly believes a new deal will be inked. The veteran has made it crystal clear: he wants to retire in the nation's capital.
