Rick Pitino must think he's arguing against the NCAA. Or, maybe, he is truly innocent. Either way, it has to be one of those two, because rare is the man being this defiant against allegations as the feds are nearing the doorstep.

In an interview with the Courier-Journal, Rick Pitino said some nice things. Like this:

“Right now it’s in the lawyers’ hands,” Pitino said in a brief phone interview. “I went to Miami. I’m selling my house (in Louisville). I love David Padgett. I love the boys. I hope they win the national championship. I’m not doing anything but laying low.”

OK. I get it. He's hurling some love out there for his former friends and players, then says he's going to lay low and let his lawyer do his thing. There's really nothing to see…

Asked if he is the “Coach 2” listed in the FBI's criminal complaint released Tuesday, Pitino said it “doesn't matter if I am or not.”

Oh. My. Goodness.

Yes, Rick Pitino. Yes it does matter. Very much so, in fact. Not just to Louisville or you, but to the FBI.

He would also tell the outlet that he believes he will be vindicated when the process is all over.

Quick history lesson on Rick Pitino kids:

  • Busted for adultery after having seconds worth of intercourse at a chain restaurant, was extorted after paying for that woman to have an abortion.
  • Claims to have no knowledge of the hooker scandal that rocked UL in 2013 and it was just one bad egg.
  • Now claims to have no knowledge in this scandal and again claiming it to be on bad egg.
