JaVale McGee will reportedly meet with the Houston Rockets once free agency begins on Sunday, June 30.

McGee had one of the most productive seasons of his 11-year career with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018-19. He averaged 12.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game. He was one of the few bright spots for the Purple and Gold during one of their most dysfunctional seasons ever.

The Rockets will be looking to add a reliable center for next season, especially since they are most likely going to trade Clint Capela. They might also lose Nene and Kenneth Faried in free agency, so adding McGee will definitely help them fill a huge hole.

McGee has already expressed his interest in re-signing with the Lakers, especially since that team already has LeBron James and Anthony Davis. However, LA is looking to sign another max free agent, which means that JaVale is not really their priority.

Moreover, the Lakers are interested in Enes Kanter, a more reliable center on both ends of the floor.

If McGee ends up with the Rockets, he will have another opportunity to play for a championship contending team. Houston is reportedly planning to work a sign-and-trade with Philadelphia 76ers for Jimmy Butler, and if they succeed, they will have a third star behind James Harden and Chris Paul.
