Nene recently re-signed with the Houston Rockets. However, there were concerns that he might not return after initially declining his player option with the team.

When asked why he decided to return to the Rockets after opting out, the Brazilian big man offered a simple yet heartwarming reason.

“They've been good to me since the 1st day. They believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. When they talked to me about signing the 1st time I had been thru a lot of adversity. The Houston Rockets, they've been good to me. That's why,” Nene said, per Mark Berman of FOX 26 (KRIV).

On June 29, Nene opted out of his contract which led many to believe that the 36-year-old NBA veteran was either hanging up his jersey for good after 17 years in the league or looking for an opportunity elsewhere.

But with the recent signing, Nene has made it official — he'll enter his 18th year in the NBA back to the Rockets. As the backup for Clint Capela for the last three years, Nene averaged 6.8 points on 58.6 percent shooting to go along with 3.6 rebounds.

In the upcoming season, Nene is expected to trade reserve roles with 19-year veteran Tyson Chandler. Their experience will be critical as the Rockets continue their quest to win the NBA title.
