Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook is officially inactive for the Week 3 tilt against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

It had been trending in this direction Sunday morning for Cook, and now he indeed has officially been ruled out with an ankle injury. The Vikings want to play it safe with their star early in the season, though they really could use a win after suffering two heartbreaking losses to begin 2021.

There have been rumors that Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer has a playoff mandate this season, otherwise he could be gone. It will be more difficult to beat an explosive Seahawks offense without Cook, but Minnesota does have some serious weapons in the passing game with Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen out wide as weapons for Kirk Cousins. Alexander Mattison will be the primary running back with Cook out.

Cook has 42 carries for 192 yards and a touchdown this season. He also has eight catches for 60 yards. While the Vikings running back had a stellar start to the season before getting hurt, he did have a key fumble in the brutal Week 1 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in overtime.
