There are a lot of unhappy basketball players in the nation’s capital – and understandably so. After Friday night’s 116-112 road loss to the Sacramento Kings, the Washington Wizards dropped to 1-4 to start the season, prompting the team’s dynamic backcourt tandem of John Wall and Bradley Beal to speak up, albeit in a manner that seemed as though they were calling out their teammates.

Although Wall and Beal sounded highly disappointed of what they have observed as a lack of selflessness within the team, Wizards head coach Scott Brooks would rather blame his star players’ incendiary comments to mere frustrations, per Candace Buckner of the Washington Post.

#Wizards Coach Scott Brooks on last night's comments made by Bradley Beal and John Wall, who indicated that some players have their “own agenda.” Brooks: “Sometimes when you get frustrated, you say things but I think our problem right now is our defensive tendencies.”

The loss to Sacramento was especially frustrating for Washington. For one, the Wizards were the favored team to win in that matchup despite being the visiting unit. Also, they held a six-point lead going into the fourth quarter, but Washington shot itself in the foot with eight turnovers and a generally poor defense in the final period to allow Sacramento to complete a come-from-behind victory.

Washington will look to put up a better effort on Sunday, when the Wizards take on the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center.
