The Washington Wizards were trying to acquire Jimmy Butler from the Minnesota Timberwolves, but wouldn't offer shooting guard Bradley Beal, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Minnesota traded Jimmy Butler to the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday in exchange for forwards Robert Covington and Dario Saric, guard Jerryd Bayless and a 2022 second-round pick.

In 12 games this season for the Wizards, Bradley Beal is averaging 22.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists. The 25-year-old is shooting 47.3 percent from the field, 35.8 percent from beyond the arc and 77.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The Wizards have started the season 3-9 and currently have the worst defense in the NBA. Washington is giving up a whopping 119.3 points per game.

John Wall and Bradley Beal have already called out some guys on the team for playing selfishly. The players don’t even look like they want to play with one another half the time. If a team makes one run against the Wizards, they fold instantly like a cheap tent.

Every summer, All-Star guards John Wall and Bradley Beal talk about how everyone is underestimating Washington and that the team is a serious contender in the East. Once the season starts, though, the team show exactly why no one takes them seriously year after year. There's still time for the Wizards to turn things around, and adding a player such as Jimmy Butler would have helped Washington. However, the Wizards already have a tokic locker room. Imagine how the dynamic would have been with Butler, Wall and Dwight Howard.
