The Minnesota Lynx have been struggling immensely during the 2022 WNBA season. The former title contenders currently sit at last place in the Western Conference with a 3-9 record. It's a massive fall from grace for a team that used to battle for supremacy in the women's league.
Unfortunately, things are about to get much worse for this moribund WNBA franchise. The Lynx announced that long-time star Sylvia Fowles will be out indefinitely due to injury. The team is currently listing Fowles' injury as “cartilage injury in her right knee.” Head coach Cheryl Reeve also didn't rule out the possibility of the star undergoing surgery due to this. The news is a devastating blow to a team that has been struggling all season long. Maya Moore's continued sabbatical sapped the WNBA franchise of their star power. Now, they're bound to lose another key pillar of their team for an indefinite amount of time.
Sylvia Fowles is arguably one of the most important players of the Lynx franchise. The WNBA legend teamed up with Moore during the mid-2010s to dominate the league. She won two championships with the franchise, one in 2015 and another in 2017. Her contributions to the sport will undoubtedly make her a lock for the Hall of Fame when she hangs up her sneakers for good.
