The Colorado Avalanche have finally climbed back atop the NHL mountain. They captured the Stanley Cup for the first time since 2001 and only the third time in franchise history. Colorado defeated the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning in six games to do it, making it that much more impressive. The Lightning were looking to become the first team in 39 years to win three straight titles. Instead, the Avalanche might have just begun their reign atop the NHL.

It has been quite the few years for the Avalanche. Just five years ago, they had the worst record in hockey. But the development of stars like Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar, along with the veteran leadership and presence of Gabriel Landeskog, turned Colorado into a goliath. They finished the regular season with 119 points, second only to the Florida Panthers for the President's Trophy.

But before Avs fans look forward to next season and trying to win back-to-back championships, they need to enjoy this one as thoroughly as they can. That starts with the parade and ClutchPoints has you covered with all of the details.
