The Columbus Blue Jackets fell in a heartbreaker on Sunday, losing to Jacob Trouba the New York Rangers. Columbus controlled much of the game against New York. In fact, they had the lead with less than 15 seconds remaining. Unfortunately, Adam Fantilli and the Blue Jackets couldn't come away with the win.
Fantilli himself had a fine game, scoring a huge goal. He created his own turnover just outside the offensive zone. And the Michigan product did not miss, rifling a shot past Jonathan Quick to tie the game at the time.
In the first period, though, Fantilli got into a bit of a shoving match. Trouba laid out Blue Jackets forward Kirill Marchenko, causing Columbus's star rookie to take exception. Fantilli stepped up to the Rangers captain after the hit. Trouba eventually went to the penalty box for roughing.
After the game, Fantilli spoke with reporters. He was asked about his confrontation with Trouba in the first period. The Blue Jackets rookie knew what he was getting into, and felt the need to step up regardless.

At the end of the night, Jacob Trouba and the Rangers got the last laugh. Forward Alexis Lafreniere scored with just 11 seconds remaining in regulation. And in the shootout, New York's former first-overall pick scored the game-winner.
It's certainly a heartbreaking loss for a Columbus team that has now lost five in a row. Fantilli and the Blue Jackets will look to break this losing streak on Tuesday when they take on the Pittsburgh Penguins.
