Chicago Bulls shooting guard Zach LaVine has nothing but respect for Detroit Pistons point guard Derrick Rose.

After the Bulls defeated the Pistons on Friday, LaVine called Rose a “legend.” Rose received MVP chants from the United Center crowd and put on a show for his hometown, finishing with 23 points and seven assists:

“He's a legend,” LaVine said, via K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago. “The crowd and city loves him. You respect a dude like that. He’s gone through so much and he’s still at the top of his game. You see how elite he is. Everybody respects him.”

Rose is still loved in Chicago and by Bulls fans despite playing for the rival Pistons. The former MVP is the most popular Bulls player in the post-Michael Jordan era.

Chicago fans are happy their team won on Friday, but they were clearly cheering for Rose to play well. At the end of the day, the fans got everything they wanted; a Bulls win and a great performance from D-Rose.

Chicago is now 2-4 on the season, as are the Pistons. LaVine poured in 26 points to help the Bulls defeat the Pistons. The high-flyer also grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists.
