The Montreal Canadiens had their chances against the red-hot Vancouver Canucks on Sunday night. Forwards Josh Anderson and Juraj Slafkovsky, in particular, peppered the net. They combined for 13 of Montreal's 32 shots on goal on Sunday. However, neither player scored against the Canucks.

Anderson and Slafkovsky failing to score is not an uncommon occurrence for the Canadiens and their fans. In fact, the Habs forwards have scored just one goal between them. Slafkovsky has a goal and an assist, while the veteran Anderson has two assists through 15 games.

Head coach Martin St. Louis spoke to reporters following the loss to Vancouver. He mentioned that he felt Slafkovsky, the 2022 first-overall pick, had a good game. As linemates, though, Anderson and Slafkovksy are still looking for answers.

“I think they’re hungry to find some success,” St. Louis said about the two forwards, via the Montreal Gazette. “But they have a good attitude about it.”

In regards to Anderson, the Canadiens head coach likes what he's seen so far. The 29-year-old is skating well, drawing penalties, and has a good attitude. It's all about finding an opening. “I know Josh is very streaky and when he’s going to get one he’s going to get a lot. It’s just to try and find the first one,” St. Louis said, via the Montreal Gazette.

For Slafkovsky, the message is straightforward. The Habs and St. Louis want to see the 19-year-old shoot the puck more. He made it clear on Sunday that he's heard the message loud and clear.

“It’s coming from me, it’s coming from pretty much everyone around me. They’re trying to tell me to shoot. … I’m trying to shoot more,” Slafkovsky told reporters, via the Montreal Gazette.

The Canadiens have lost five of their last seven games after an impressive start. Anderson and Slafkovsky will certainly look to break out of this slump on Tuesday when the Canadiens face the Calgary Flames.
