Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith reunited playing pickup basketball alongside Enes Kanter

Heavily rumored New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony was reunited with his former teammate J.R. Smith in a pickup game that also included Oklahoma City Thunder big man Enes Kanter.

The game was held at the M7 Academy as one of NBA Trainer Chris Brickley’s “Blackout Sessions” — one that saw all-time gunners like Melo and J.R. show out an array of jump shots throughout the game.

Kanter put on a low-post clinic with plenty of fakes and finishes around the rim, while others like Nick Richards, Hamidou Diallo and former Knicks forward Lance Thomas had their share of moments during the game, which also included J.R.’s brother Chris Smith.

Sometimes the best way to regain the joy for basketball is to play it at its purest and rawest form — no contracts, no paychecks, just a whole lot of pride and mettle to put out on the hardwood.
