The Boston Celtics had no less than three first-round picks coming into Wednesday night's draft, and they decided to use one of them on 6-foot-6 small forward Aaron Nesmith. The C's used their 14th pick on Nesmith, and head coach Brad Stevens has spoken out about this recent development.

Stevens expressed his confidence in Nesmith's potential, but also admitted that they had their sights set on other players as well:

“I think you’re always looking for shooting, you’re always looking for guys who can put the ball in the basket,” Stevens said after the completion of the first round, via John Karalis of Mass Live. However, he did add that “we were evaluating several guys across the draft that brought different strengths, that brought different things to the table.”

Nevertheless, Stevens appears to be delighted with their recent acquisition of the former Vanderbilt standout, who is considered by many as one of the top shooters in the entire draft:

“The way he can run off screens and shoot the ball, the worker that he is, the amount of time he puts into his game, his size, which gives him some positional versatility as he becomes more comfortable with how we defend, will hopefully allow him to guard multiple positions,” Stevens said.

The Celtics appear to have added an all-around gem in Nesmith. Last season as a sophomore, he averaged 23.0 points (on 51.2 percent shooting), 4.9 rebounds, and 1.4 steals, while also knocking down a very impressive 4.3 triples per game on a 52.2-percent clip.
