Following the Boston Celtics' 106-101 loss to the Miami Heat in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals, several players from the Celtics were heard shouting at one another in their locker room. It was a raucous scene, with some reports indicating that objects were thrown.

Marcus Smart was at the center of it all, even getting into a verbal confrontation with Jaylen Brown. Needless to say, Smart wasn't happy with going down 2-0 in the series.

Knowing that he needed to be a calming voice, Celtics head coach Brad Stevens held a meeting with several of the team's leaders later that night:

Boston led by as many as 17 points in Game 2, but a sloppy second half allowed the Heat to fight their way back in. Turnovers were an issue, to be sure, as they finished with 20 as a team. Jayson Tatum had 21 points in the game, but he also had five giveaways — as did Kemba Walker, who led the team with 23 points.

By comparison, Miami had just nine turnovers. The Heat scored 26 points off Boston’s turnovers. Seven of Boston’s giveaways came in a dreadful third quarter.

Tatum admitted frustration afterward:

“We're frustrated,” Tatum said after Game, via ESPN. “But that's team sports. Not supposed to be happy we're down 0-2. But that's nothing out of the ordinary. Just talking about the game. It's cool.”

Boston struggled with Miami's zone defense in the second half. More specifically, they struggled to finish in the paint.

Via NBA.com:

After scoring 38 points in the paint (12 more than they had in all of Game 1) through the first 28 minutes on Thursday, the Celtics scored just eight points in the paint over the last 20 minutes.

Game 3 between the Celtics and Heat is set to tip at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night, with ESPN having live broadcast coverage.

Let's see if Stevens' voice of reason has an impact on how his team performs in the ensuing matchups.
