Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum was singled out by former United States First Lady Michelle Obama in what she has dubbed as the #VotingSquad challenge. Unsurprisingly, Tatum quickly heeded the call, and expressed his desire to play the challenge forward.

First off, here's Mrs. Obama's tweet, wherein she tagged a number of other celebrities along with Tatum, such as LL Cool J, Fat Joe, the Jonas Brothers, and Big Sean, among others:

Tatum quickly responded, and expressed how he is more than willing to support the initiative:

As Mrs. Obama expressed in her initial tweet, the point of this challenge is to get as many people to go out and vote in the upcoming national elections. Every single person who accepts the challenge will in turn need to challenge three of his/her friends to come up with their own voting squad, and so on.

It's great to see how Tatum remains very active in the socio-political sphere. He has emerged as one of the prominent voices of the younger generation of NBA players, and from what we've seen so far, the league appears to be in good hands.

As for his basketball, Jayson Tatum is expected to sign a massive extension with the Celtics in the offseason.  His current rookie-scale deal is set to expire at the end of the 2020-21 campaign, which means that Boston will need to dig deep into their pockets during this offseason to sign their superstar to a new long-term deal. The 22-year-old is widely expected to put pen to paper on a max deal, and based off of his performance for the Celtics this past season, there's no denying that he deserves it.
