Boston Celtics swingman Jayson Tatum is questionable to play in Friday night's game against the Orland magic after exiting Wednesday night's game due to a groin strain, the team announced Thursday.

Jaylen Brown is also questionable with an ankle injury, while Enes Kanter is out with a hip contusion.

Tatum had been dominating the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, scoring 23 points to go along with seven rebounds and four assists in just 26 minutes of action. But he pulled up lame during a drive to the basket in the third quarter and was promptly removed from the game.

However, Tatum would return to the bench to watch the fourth quarter, and Celtics head coach Brad Stevens said after the game the strain did not appear to be serious, per Logan Mullen of NESN:

“I don’t know what everybody’s been told, but (a groin strain is) exactly what I was told,” Stevens said. “Didn’t sound like it was too bad, not too concerned about it. He’ll get a test tonight just to make sure, then we’ll figure out more tomorrow when we travel.”

Even though it's not serious, Celtics still cannot seem to catch a break — no pun intended — when it comes to injuries this season.

Gordon Hayward and Marcus Smart missed extensive time earlier in the year. Brown has missed three of Boston's last four games, and Kanter has also been in and out of the rotation. Luckily for Celtics fans, Tatum does not figure to have a long absence.

The 21-year-old has made strides in his third season, averaging 21.5 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists while making massive gains on the defensive end. Jayson Tatum ranks second in Defensive Win Shares, one of the many reasons he is generating All-Star buzz.
