Kemba Walker could come back to the court in the next few days, with an unlikely probability that he may return against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. However, Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens will hope to take it slow with his star's recovery, according to Keith Smith of Yahoo Sports.

Walker has missed the Celtics' past two games with a sore left knee. Before that, he missed three games at the start of February, playing in just four games this month.

Stevens is hoping that if Walker misses subsequent games upon his return, they're due to planned rest and not due to the injury. Stevens and the Celtics' medical staff appear determined to let this injury fully heal before letting the star guard suit up once again.

“I think he’s getting better day by day,” Stevens said before Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers, according to NESN. “He did a lot in the weight room and workout room yesterday and we talked about it a little bit. I don’t know how long it’s going to be but right now we’re really focusing on him feeling great and strengthening it.”

“We need him to feel great and the swelling obviously was something that was new coming out of the break, so we need to make sure he feels great as we head to the stretch run here.”

Stevens hopes Walker's knee is at full strength before he goes back on the court as they head into the stretch run of the season. The Celtics have won nine of their last 11 games and are in good shape heading into the playoffs — trailing the second-place Toronto Raptors by 2.5 games and ahead of the fourth-place Miami Heat by 3.5 games. Having Walker fully healthy for the postseason will be of the utmost importance.
