Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving will not suit up against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday due to right shoulder soreness, according to official team reports.

Irving has only missed one of the team's 25 games this season, a road loss against the Utah Jazz early in November.

The Celtics are coming off an easy-going week, grabbing an impressive pair of wins — a 28-point route against the New York Knicks on Thursday and a record-setting torching of the Chicago Bulls by doubling the margin of victory on Saturday.

Boston has pushed its win streak to a season-high five games now and could see either Terry Rozier or Marcus Smart take over the starting gig for the time being.

Celtics forward Gordon Hayward (illness) and center Al Horford (knee) are listed as doubtful for this tilt, which likely means another start for Marcus Morris in their absence. The Philly native has stringed together six double-digit outings, hitting stride at the same time as this team has collectively.

Jaylen Brown has shined in his new role coming off the bench, posting back-to-back 20-plus-point performances after missing three games with an injury.

Still, the Celtics will be in need of firepower with Irving's 21.8-point average of contribution missing from the lineup, making this a task for coach Brad Stevens to manage, hoping to put the clamps on early to avoid having to outscore a high-octane Western Conference team.
