“We Want Boston!” are the chants that the Boston Celtics received heading into the NBA Finals. Other forms of vitriol were also hurled at the Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown-led squad. Some have said that their regular season did not matter while others have come to declare that their postseason run has been fraudulent due to the injuries in other teams. Time and again they have been able to suppress these criticisms. Now, they are just four wins against the Dallas Mavericks from reaching their 18th banner. No one else was fit to hype them up than New England Patriots legend Tom Brady.
The Celtics got Tom Brady to narrate their pre-NBA Finals hype video. It chronicles the journey that Joe Mazzulla's squad had to undergo. First was taking care of the Miami Heat despite the unfortunate injury to Kristaps Porzingis. Then, getting the work done against the Cleveland Cavaliers as Derrick White and Al Horford stepped up. After that, it was sweeping an Indiana Pacers squad that clawed their way up to the Eastern Conference Finals.
"Really? You want Boston? Take it from me: That's a bad idea."

Despite all of this, there has still been a lot of disrespect coming towards the Celtics' way. Made-up narratives about how Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are not meshing. The fact that the Mavericks are supposedly a better squad but are set to have the lowest regular season win total among champions if they do win the NBA Finals. All of that and more has been heard around the world despite the efforts that the Celtics have put in.
Tired of the Celtics disrespect?

Maybe it's just the disrespect because the city that the Celtics are situated in is just too competitive. After all, Tom Brady and the Patriots experienced the exact same thing when they were ravaging the NFL. The Boston Red Sox also had to hear all of this talk and unsolicited criticism during their World Series runs. It might just come with the territory.
But, none of these are warranted and the Celtics are ready to show why. They are a 64-win regular season squad for a season and have not gotten a losing record in a span of 10 games throughout the past eight months. Their offense which is rated at 123.2 is the best in the league. Moreover, the defensive intensity that they also give out ranks them third in the league with a 111.6 rating.
As for individual performances, Jayson Tatum is top 10 in the postseason when it comes to points, rebounds, and assists. Jaylen Brown is just coming off a steaming hot performance that got him an Eastern Conference Finals Most Valuable Player trophy. Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, and Al Horford have all been able to sustain their energy from the start to the clutch. Meanwhile, Kristaps Porzingis is also poised to make a return.
There are big expectations for the Celtics but even meaner demons to exorcise. They have seven games against the Mavericks to dispel all of these negative and baseless notions. But, if Tom Brady and his herd of Patriots fans believes just like the Celtics faithful, they might not even need all of the games in the series.
