The Boston Celtics took home their first win of the early 2020-21 NBA season, thanks to star forward Jayson Tatum banking in a 3-pointer over two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Bucks had 0.4 seconds on the clock to either tie or win the game. Antetokounmpo was fouled in the Bucks' drawn-up alley-oop attempt. Unfortunately, the reigning MVP and DPOY only converted one free throw, giving the Celtics a 122-121 victory on opening night.

Tatu–who signed a rookie max extension deal worth $195 million over five years this fall–finished with 30 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block. It wasn't particularly a good shooting night for Tatum, as he was just 12-of-28 from the field. However, he shot 6-of-13 from downtown.

Jaylen Brown had a team-high 33 points, along with five rebounds and four assists. In their first game donning the Celtics jersey, Jeff Teague and Tristan Thompson put up 19 points and 12 points, respectively. Thompson also had eight rebounds.

Antetokounmpo had a game-high 35 points to go along with 13 rebounds. Khris Middleton filled the stat sheet with 27 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists. In his debut for the Bucks, Jrue Holiday had 25 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Both teams will be back on Christmas day. The Celtics will duel with the Brooklyn Nets while the Bucks will meet the Golden State Warriors.
