The Boston Celtics ran away with a 108-87 victory over the Charlotte Hornets in Kemba Walker’s first game against his former team on Thursday.

Prior to tip-off, Charlotte honored their franchise’s leading scorer with a touching video tribute that showed his best highlights during his eight-year tenure in the Queen City.

Walker talked about what it feels like to be back in the Spectrum Arena and play against the team that drafted him ninth overall in the 2019 NBA Draft.

“It was an amazing night. Amazing day. A lot of love from the fans and the organization. Just really good to be back,” he said post-game.

“I was trying to hold it in. I told myself I wasn’t going to cry but I couldn’t hold it in. It was an amazing video. I knew it was going to be a video but I just didn’t know what to expect. It was amazing.”

The Celtics moved to 6-1 after their road win, as Walker posted 14 points, six assists, and two boards in 29 minutes. The Hornets, meanwhile, dropped to 4-4 in the Eastern Conference standings.
