“He sacrificed his dream, so I could live mine.” These were the exact words of Boston Celtics star Kyrie Irving in his latest Nike commercial that pays tribute to his father, Drederick Irving.

Kyrie Irving never shied away from talking about the huge influence his father had on him when he was growing up. And in his new Nike ad, the Celtics point guard opened up about it once again and narrated his father’s sacrifices to raise him and his sister after their mother passed away.

The video featured Kyrie Irving and his father playing a game of 1-on-1 on the TD Garden floor. Throughout the short clip, the younger Irving shared their story and even said that his dad is the reason he wears no.11.

Here’s the full video (and prepare your tissues for a heartwarming minute):

The ad was undoubtedly touching and Nike did a great job telling Kyrie Irving’s story with care.

Kyrie Irving recently grabbed headlines with his “f*ck Thanksgiving” remarks, saying that he doesn’t celebrate it. And while that’s the case, it doesn’t mean he has nothing or no one to thank in his life.

As this Nike video proves, Kyrie Irving will always be thankful to his father — Thanksgiving or not.
