Before Mohamed Salah arrived to Liverpool, the team was mostly in the dumps. Of course, they had some great seasons, winning the Champions League in 2005, making it to the final in 2007, and almost winning the English Premier League with Luis Suarez in 2014.

It was not until Mo Salah came through, though, that they won the EPL title in the 2019-20 season, the first one in 30 years. However, Liverpool is now in danger of losing Salah if his contract is not renewed before it expires in 2023. If he does not renew, here are the three best landing spots for Mohamed Salah if the Liverpool contract expires.

Best Mohamed Salah landing spots

Barcelona

Now, this answer would have been laughable a couple of months ago. After Lionel Messi left, and even before that, Barcelona was a terribly ran club. Their spending was off the charts, but the play on the field did not match it. That all led to the dismissal of Josep Maria Bartomeu and the return of Joan Laporta. Due to the financial struggles, Barcelona had to rely on their youngsters, but that turned out to be amazing, especially after hiring Xavi in November of last year. With an emerging core and given some time to clear some debts, the signature of Mohamed Salah on a Barcelona contract would be a move indicating their return to the top echelons of world football.

Salah would fulfill one area of the field where there are struggles for Barcelona. The midfield and defense seem to be just fine, other than a left-back slot where Jordi Alba needs to be replaced, but the attack still needs an upgrade. That is especially true for the right wing, where Salah operates. With the left wing likely taken by Ansu Fati, the right wing can become Salah's kingdom. His ability to take on players could be a new variant of the Barcelona offense, which is highly reliant on their passing and link-up play. Even Ousmane Dembele, who is rumored to be out this summer after myriad injuries, can still ball out on that right wing. Thus, upgrading that slot to Salah, if all the youngsters remain on their progression path, would be incredible for the Catalan club.

Real Madrid

If he wants to go to Spain, Mohamed Salah has two options. The first one is above, but if he wants to truly terrify teams around the world with his new team, Real Madrid is the option. This is the club that is likely getting Kylian Mbappe in the summer, and due to his interchangeable nature, where he can play all positions in the attacking third, Mbappe and Salah could work together perfectly. This move would be highly beneficial for all parties, as 2023 is when we can expect that Karim Benzema is relegated to a role similar to Marcelo, where he plays occasionally but mostly leads the locker room as the veteran presence.

What would make this move even better, potentially, is if Real Madrid can have the dream summer and snag Erling Haaland as well. He is choosing between Manchester City and Real Madrid this summer, per reports, so if he does choose the Spanish capital, it might be an even more devastating attack Salah could be joining. We must not forget that on the left flank, Real Madrid has Vinicius Jr, the player who burst out on the scene this season.

So, while it is reliant on Salah and Haaland joining, Madrid could have Salah and Vinicius on the flanks, with Mbappe and Haaland in the middle. That is an attacking line that would put fear into opponents, no matter who they are.

Manchester City

The last team was really a choice between Manchester City and PSG, as they are the two clubs with the best financial capabilities to offer Mohamed Salah incredible money. However, with PSG crumbling down, per reports, the team likely to be stable come 2023 is Manchester City. It might seem counterintuitive for Salah to join a club that is a massive rival of his first English club, Liverpool, but Manchester City has some things that are hard to say no to. They have consistency, success, an owner that seems destined to bring glory to the blue side of Manchester, and incredibly deep pockets.

One massive argument City can have is, similar to Real Madrid, the arrival of Erling Haaland. As mentioned above, the Norwegian is choosing between Real Madrid and Manchester City, so if he chooses the English team, it could be a huge appeal for Salah. Combined with their incredible defense and masterful midfield, Salah could be entering a finished product that he just needs to upgrade on the right flank.

Also, City has the advantage of being an English team, a country and league Salah is accustomed to, rather than making him move away to a new country and a new league.

Last but definitely not least, Manchester City can make Mohamed Salah an offer that is unmatched by anyone, so if money is the decider, we are going to see Salah in that Manchester blue.
