If it is still seen at the F1 Qatar Grand Prix, Red Bull reveals they are ready to protest Mercedes' suspicious rear wing which has given them a significant speed boost in a straight line.

Lewis Hamilton had an excellent weekend at the Brazilian Grand Prix. Could it be from the new engine that Mercedes gave him? Or maybe it's just Hamilton displaying his excellence once more?

The 7-time world champion was tearing through the field like it was nothing and the F1 community can't really pinpoint where Hamilton made gains to pull off an insane Brazil GP result. However, Red Bull and team boss Christian Horner may have a better idea.

Horner suspects that Hamilton's rear wing could be the cause of their significant straight-line speed upgrade seen in Brazil. The rear wing of Hamilton's car was already penalized for having illegal F1 DRS specifications which initially allowed him to secure pole position in the qualifying session before being disqualified later in the day. Horner stresses that everyone noticed their insane speed, and how the Mercedes' rear wing may be illegal.

Via Formula 1:

“Would I protest?,” said Horner. “Yeah, absolutely. If we believe the car is not in compliance, we will protest. The straight-line speeds that we've seen in Mexico and in Brazil, I mean, I think everybody could see Brazil was not a normal situation.”

Horner adds, “And yes, a new engine we know with Mercedes comes with increased performance. But when you have a 27 kilometre [per hour] difference, and you see marks on rear end plates that have been marking up from wings that have been flexing,”

Tensions are rising and it looks like there's nothing holding back the two F1 giants from swinging haymakers at each other heading into the final races of the season—definitely must-see action from here on out.
