On Saturday night, the Miami Heat came into TD Garden and took Game 3 against the Boston Celtics. But they didn't exit unscathed as Jimmy Butler left the game prematurely with an injury.

The Heat star was dealing with a knee inflammation that knocked him out of the contest after playing 19 minutes in the first half. He did not return to start the third quarter.

Erik Spoelstra spoke out on the said injury to Jimmy Butler and how the Heat made the decision to sit him out.

Via Barry Jackson:

Spoelstra on Butler: “He didn't have his normal explosive burst. He's been able to manage this. The next two days will be really important. His competitiveness will overtake everything. At halftime, the trainers made the call for him not to play.”

If Jimmy Butler still has his limbs intact, he's probably still going to play if nobody stops him. The Heat needed to exercise caution with their star to make sure he doesn't aggravate any lingering issues.

The good news is that there is no need for an MRI and a Game 4 return is very much still a possibility.

Their caution paid off as Miami was able to withstand Boston's comeback bid to pull off the victory without their best player. Without Jimmy Butler to take charge, Bam Adebayo went supernova as he poured in 31 points on 15-for-22 shooting.
