The Miami Heat want Kevin Durant. As a matter of fact, reports suggest that they're pulling out all the stops to try and snag the former league MVP from the Brooklyn Nets via a sensational trade deal. At this point, however, it seems that Pat Riley and his front office need to work harder if they want their KD dream to come to fruition.

Brooklyn's asking price on Durant still appears to be the biggest stumbling block for the Heat — and for any other interested team, for that matter. Miami doesn't exactly have an array of assets it can include in their trade offer for KD, which is why reigning Sixth Man of the Year Tyler Herro has been rumored to be the centerpiece of a potential trade package. According to a report by Kurt Helin of NBC Sports, however, this just won't cut it for the Nets:

In the case of Durant, the Nets want an All-Star and the buzz from league sources is they are lukewarm on a Herro and Robinson package, even with more picks.

It doesn't sound like Miami is interested in sending either Jimmy Butler or Bam Adebayo in the opposite direction here, which may explain why they're in a bit of an impasse right now. It is worth noting, though, that the Heat are reportedly in the market for draft picks, with the intention of including them in an improved trade offer for Kevin Durant. In this scenario, it still wouldn't be surprising if Herro ends up suiting up for a different team next season.
