Jaylon Bates is an undefeated MMA prospect in Bellator that has a lot of hype surrounding him, justifiably so. The 4-0 fighter is set to take on Chris Disonell at Bellator 274 on Saturday and he’ll look to take out the ‘hype train derailer’ himself.

Currently, Jaylon Bates is not picky about who he fights. At this point in his career, the undefeated MMA prospect is looking to prove himself and take everyone out. When the fight was offered, he didn’t hesitate for a minute.

“I said, ‘Okay, send me the contract.’ Exactly what I said actually, send the contract,” Bellator MMA bantamweight Jaylon Bates told ClutchPoints. “And then once they did, I think that was like January. So I was just like, ‘Alright, here we go again.’ I fought in October, November, December, January, February, as well, four months apart. Fighting every four months is perfect. But yeah, I was just like, send the contract. Let's get it.’”

There is a storyline heading into this fight as many expect this to be a good test for Jaylon Bates. Fighting in Bellator MMA means taking on good competition that forces you to get better.

Jaylon Bates loves passing tests and he’s ready to do that against Chris Disonell. He also doesn’t want his MMA fights to go longer than they need to be.

“He's like the hype train. He's like the gatekeeper. He's like the hype train derailer, or they say, or something like that. So that's fine. I want him to try to derail my train. I want him to try to test me because I love tests. I love passing tests, especially with flying colors. So yeah, I hope he brings his best because I'm doing my best. I'm always looking for a quick night. I'm not looking to stay in there for 15 minutes. But if we go 15 minutes, I can do that, too.”

The storyline heading into the MMA fight does make things more exciting for Jaylon Bates at Bellator 274. He won’t let people’s hopes of him losing his undefeated record affect the fight.

“Oh, yeah, absolutely. I think, you know, I know what when people want to see you lose, it kind of makes you do better. So I feel like he probably thinks everyone wants to see him lose. But then, in my mind, I'm thinking the same thing. I'm like, everyone wants to see me lose. Everyone wants to see that little blemish on my record. Everyone wants to see that. Oh, four and one, but it's not going to happen because we're going to continue just moving on the path, just laser-sharp focus, keep going, keep going, keep going until he breaks or he taps or he submits or whatever, whatever happens, but my hand will be raised at the night. So I'm just looking forward to it, man.”

Jaylon Bates is looking for his first knockout win as a professional. The MMA fight at Bellator 274 will be his opportunity to make it happen.

“I'm gonna go talk to Mystic Mac, but I really see us TKOing him. Whether it be ground and pound or flush knockout, I really can see as TKO and the ref having to pull me off or stop it. Yeah, I'm leaving that one there.”
