The Boston Celtics is surely a thing of the past now as Kemba Walker is very happy to have found a new lease of life with the New York Knicks.

When Kemba Walker decided to join the Knicks for a 2-year, $16 million contract this offseason, some believe that it was just right to lower his value as he isn't the magnificent max free agent who signed with the Celtics two years ago anymore. However, playing for New York, his hometown, is bigger than just basketball for the All-Star point guard.

In fact, based on his recent comments, Walker implied that he feels the Knicks have faith in him, something the C's may have not failed to give when injury hindered him, per ESPN.

“My guys, my hometown team, the Knicks, they believed in me,” Walker said. “And I'm here now. Whatever happened in the past is irrelevant at this point.”

“Perfect timing. [I’m] really motivated,” he added. “Super excited that these guys have belief in me. I just need somebody to believe in me.”

According to the report, one anonymous Eastern Conference scout revealed that Walker “was being judged [in Boston]. But on the Knicks, he's a perfect fit.”

Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau, meanwhile, acknowledged the fact that being in New York is “meaningful” for Walker.

“It's meaningful because of the fact he's from here,” Thibodeau assessed. “Who Kemba is as a person I think is reflective of the city. Basketball is really important to this city and the Knicks are really important, and I think Kemba embodies what that is all about.”
